Terms of Service
Last updated: April 6, 2026
Opslan is built and operated by an individual developer based in Toronto, Canada. These terms ("Terms") govern your use of Opslan — the native macOS and iOS apps, the website at opslan.com, the browser extensions, and the underlying API (together, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
The Service
Opslan is a bookmark manager. It lets you save links and photos, organize them into collections, and sync them across your devices.
We may update, improve, or change parts of the Service over time. We may also add or remove features. If we make a material change that meaningfully affects how you use Opslan, we'll do our best to give you notice.
Your account
To use most of the Service, you need an account. You agree to:
- Provide accurate information when you sign up.
- Keep your password secure and not share your account with others.
- Take responsibility for everything that happens under your account.
- Notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access.
You must be at least 16 years old to use Opslan.
Your content
You keep ownership of everything you save to Opslan — your bookmarks, photos, notes, collections, and tags ("Your Content"). We do not claim any ownership of Your Content.
To operate the Service, you grant us a limited, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, process, transmit, display, and back up Your Content for the sole purpose of providing the Service to you. This license ends when you delete Your Content or your account, except for content already cached or copied through ordinary backups, which is overwritten in the normal backup cycle.
You are responsible for Your Content. You represent that you have the right to save, store, and use anything you put into Opslan.
Acceptable use
When using Opslan, you agree not to:
- Use the Service to store, share, or distribute content that is illegal, infringing, harmful, or that violates someone else's rights.
- Attempt to access accounts, data, or systems that don't belong to you.
- Reverse engineer, scrape, overload, or interfere with the Service or its infrastructure.
- Use the Service to send spam, malware, or harassment.
- Use the Service to build a competing product.
- Circumvent any rate limits, quotas, or access controls.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that break these rules, with or without notice depending on the severity.
Third-party content
When you save a bookmark, you're saving a link to content hosted somewhere else. We don't control that content, we don't endorse it, and we're not responsible for it. Visiting a saved link takes you outside the Service and onto another website with its own terms and privacy practices.
Pricing
Opslan is currently in beta and is free to use during this period. When Opslan reaches its 1.0 release, we plan to introduce a small fee to help cover hosting and ongoing development. Existing users will be given clear notice before any fee takes effect, with enough time to decide whether to continue, export their data, or cancel.
The Service is provided as-is during beta. Features may change, break, or be removed without notice as we iterate toward 1.0.
Termination
You can delete your account at any time. When you do, we remove your data as described in our Privacy Policy.
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if you violate these Terms, if we're required to by law, or if we discontinue the Service. If we terminate your account without cause, we'll give you reasonable notice and the opportunity to export your data first.
Disclaimer of warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
We don't guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure, or that data will never be lost. You're responsible for keeping your own backups of anything important.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Opslan will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of the Service.
Our total liability for any claim related to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim — or, if you haven't paid us anything, fifty Canadian dollars (CAD $50).
Some jurisdictions don't allow these limitations, in which case they apply only to the extent permitted by law.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date and notify you in the app or by email. Your continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada, and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute arising out of or related to these Terms or the Service will be resolved by the courts of Ontario, unless mandatory consumer protection law in your country of residence provides otherwise.
